End of Year & AGM

The SGHC AGM was held Monday 9th July 2018, where we recapped on the events of the past season and the great celebrations of our 2018 Awards Night, and we looked forward to the year ahead with appointment of club positions and a number of proposals agreed.

Summer League Success for SGHC

Congratulations to the SGHC Men’s Summer 1st XI who earned themselves promotion to Division 1 of Bristol & District Summer Hockey League! All the standings from the Men’s 2018 summer leagues available here.

Meanwhile the Ladies Summer 1st XI took it right to a last minute goal in their final match to win the Summer League at Thornbury.

Well-played across all the teams!


Summer League 2018

Summer fixtures are underway! We have two Men’s teams competing in the Bristol and District Summer Hockey League, and our two Ladies sides are in action with their summer fixtures at Thornbury and Bradley Stoke/Abbey Wood.

Men’s coach required

South Gloucestershire Hockey Club are looking to appoint a coach to lead their men’s training for the 2017/18 season (and longer). South Gloucestershire Hockey Club have three men’s team, in the following leagues Central 2, West Central 2 and West Central 3. The men’s teams have a mixture of players. It is important that the coach is willing to develop all the individuals within the groups as hockey players.

Training takes place on Tuesday evenings at 8:00pm until 9:30pm at Bradley Stoke Community School, Fiddlers Lane, Bradley Stoke, BS32 9TB. Assistance at Saturday League Fixtures is optional.

Skills and qualifications:
Minimum Level 1 qualification
Good leadership and organisational skills
Ability to enthuse and motivate
Ability to give effective and constructive player feedback
Reliable and committed to a club ethos
An up-to-date knowledge of coaching principals in hockey

Main duties:
To prepare weekly sessions for all levels of men within the club
To liaise with the team captains regarding player progression and squad movement
To inform the captains in advance of any training sessions that cannot be attended.
Comply with the England Hockey Coaches code of conduct when representing South Gloucestershire Hockey Club
